Our
Story
The VNB Nail Lamp was invented by Reiauh Gregory, the owner of VNB Nails Gel Polish Line (Vendetta Nail Bar). Initially, Reiauh created a non-toxic nail polish line that complemented all skin tones, specifically focusing on providing nude shades for women of color who often struggle to find suitable options in the beauty industry. The success of Reiauh's Nude collection in salons across the nation led her to realize the need for improvement in the gel nail polish service, particularly in the manicure curing lamp. Research indicated a potential link between skin cancer and the UV/LED lamps used for curing/drying gel nail polish. Additionally, there were issues with the current gel manicure lamp not properly curing the thumb nail and a lack of a suitable lamp for pedicures.
As the demand for gel manicures and pedicures grew, nail artists started using gel manicure lamps for pedicures. However, this practice posed safety concerns, as there was no proper placement for the lamp during pedicures, often resulting in artists holding it awkwardly or risking it falling into the pedicure bowl. Complaints also arose about the lamp burning clients' feet. In response to these challenges, Reiauh conceived the idea of creating a gel manicure lamp that minimizes exposure to UV/LED light and fits the natural curvature of the hand. She also recognized the need for a gel pedicure lamp compatible with any spa device to ensure a proper pedicure experience.
Reiauh partnered with business broker Kristna Wynne, who assisted in preparing the business around the gel manicure/pedicure lamps. She pitched her idea in various competitions in Los Angeles, engaging with venture capitalists and angel investors. This led to building relationships with investors, undergoing the patenting process, and securing patents for the first gel pedicure lamp in the nail industry, as well as a manicure lamp that addresses industry improvement and potential health risks. Collaborating with the KerLaw Engineering group and MIT engineering interns, prototypes for The VNB Gel Lamp were developed. Reiauh and Kristina are excited about how The VNB Lamp will revolutionize the nail industry.
